Responsibilities

• Identify project functional requirements and works information; respond to RFIs and technical queries.
• Provide engineering support and supervision on site.
• Support optioneering and review project drawings/documentation.
• Manage detailed design activities per project standards.
• Technical assessment/approval of contractors' work instructions and risk assessments.
• Supervise construction activities to ensure design intent.
• Specify commissioning or decommissioning activities as required.
• Engage with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

About The Role

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to join the team in Plymouth. As a Lead Civil Engineer, is a key onsite full-time role. You will be responsible for the civil and structural engineering requirements whilst working as part of the Defence team. The nuclear defence sector in the UK is vital for maintaining national security and strategic stability. The sector seeks talented professionals dedicated to upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and operational excellence. Working pattern: On-site 5 days a week.

Key Deliverables

• Identify project functional requirements, Works Information, preparation of GI specifications, responding to Technical Queries, Requests for Information (RFI) for the project.
• Manage engineering support to the project.
• Support project optioneering process.
• Review and accept project drawings and documentation.
• Manage detailed design activities in accordance with project standards.
• Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors work instruction/method statements/risk assessments.
• Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
• Specify and provide technical supervision of commissioning and/or decommissioning (as required).
• Liaise and consult with stakeholders throughout project life cycle to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
• Comply with all Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments and support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality on Site.
