Job summary

First Recruitment Group is seeking a highly experienced Lead Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and delivery management on a major infra‑structure project in Warrington. The role covers design through construction with emphasis on safety, quality and regulatory compliance.

You will lead a civil engineering team, coordinate with external consultancies, and ensure 3D modelling and 2D AutoCAD outputs meet project milestones. BPSS clearance is desirable.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status desirable.
• Experience leading civil engineering teams on major infrastructure or similarly regulated projects.
• Strong knowledge of highways, drainage, underground services, earthworks and external works design.
• Proficient in Civil 3D, InfoDrainage and AutoCAD.
• Experience planning and managing delivery against project schedules.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Responsible Engineer and Area Engineering Manager to plan and deliver the civil design scope across design and construction phases.
• Monitor progress against programme requirements, managing risks and escalating issues as needed.
• Lead and coordinate a team of Civil Engineers and Designers.
• Act as the Civil discipline lead at multidisciplinary meetings and stakeholder reviews.
• Manage and oversee work delivered by external engineering consultancies.
• Provide technical leadership, direction, and acceptance of civil engineering deliverables.
• Lead development of civil designs including 3D modelling and 2D AutoCAD drawings.
• Ensure designs are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
• Fulfil Designer responsibilities in accordance with CDM Regulations.
• Support mentoring and development of junior team members.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders.

Our Client has a requirement for a Lead Civil Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Warrington.

Role Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and delivery management on a major infrastructure project within a highly regulated environment. The successful candidate will lead the civil engineering team through the design phases, ensuring safe, compliant and high-quality engineering solutions are delivered in line with project requirements and programme milestones.

Job Role Responsibilities:

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Degree qualified in Civil or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status desirable.
• Experience leading civil engineering teams on major infrastructure, industrial, nuclear, defence, energy or similarly regulated projects.
• Strong knowledge of highways, drainage, underground services, earthworks, hardstanding and external works design.
• Proficient in Civil 3D, InfoDrainage and AutoCAD.
• Experience planning and managing engineering delivery against project schedules.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Nuclear industry experience desirable but not essential.
• BPSS clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
