Job summary

MWH Treatment is seeking a Principal Civil Design Engineer to provide authoritative technical leadership on major UK water and wastewater projects. You will own complex designs, influence strategy, mentor teams and deliver sustainable, cost-effective outcomes for clients.

Lead multidisciplinary design delivery, drive governance and quality, and support major bids while building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders across the business.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (BEng, MEng or equivalent).
• Significant experience in the UK water and wastewater industry.
• Strong understanding of water and sewage treatment principles and related civil infrastructure.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering design projects.
• Ability to develop practical and economical engineering solutions and plant layouts.
• Broad understanding of related disciplines including mechanical, electrical and process engineering.
• Excellent technical judgement and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management with ability to present to clients and teams.
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple workstreams to deliver on programme.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable; design review experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate delivery of complex civil designs within water and wastewater sector.
• Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Develop innovative, practical and balanced engineering solutions.
• Ensure designs are safe, sustainable, compliant, buildable and cost-effective.
• Produce, review and approve design documentation, calculations, specifications and drawings.
• Support major project bids and contribute to successful outcomes.
• Act as technical reviewer and maintain governance and quality standards.
• Manage technical delivery from broad briefs balancing programme, cost and resources.
• Identify and address technical risks early with timely resolution.
• Build relationships with clients, stakeholders, contractors and supply chain.
• Mentor, coach and develop engineers to strengthen capability.
• Promote continuous improvement, customer focus and engineering excellence.
