Job summary

Turner Lovell is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations across the UK, coordinating drawings, calculations, and specifications for civil structures and infrastructure.

You will attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with project scope. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in related sectors and is proficient with AutoCAD and allied tools.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 3 years of industry experience in power transmission, distribution, substations, or infrastructure.
• Experience with substations and coordination with electrical/structural disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK.
• Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress and resolve technical issues.
• Coordinate with internal design teams and external stakeholders to meet technical, safety, and quality requirements within time and budget constraints.
• Manage design risks and develop practical, buildable solutions throughout project development and delivery.
• Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with electrical and structural disciplines.
• Guide and mentor junior team members.
