Job summary

Connect2Luton, on behalf of Luton Borough Council, is seeking a Children's and Young People’s Participation Manager in the Children and Learning department. The role focuses on improving outcomes for children and young people in care or on child protection plans by developing and running the participation service.

The post involves leading on the action plan, recruiting looked-after children for participation, creating engaging methods, mentoring an apprentice, and maintaining a dedicated site

Qualifications

• Experience developing inclusive participation opportunities for children and young people.
• Strong communication across multiple media and audiences.
• Ability to persuade and influence stakeholders to support participation initiatives.
• Ability to build effective relationships with children, staff, the public and professionals.
• Proven ability to formulate policies and procedures to monitor systems.
• Demonstrated commitment to equality and diversity in practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead and monitor the Children and Young People’s Action Plan and report to multi-agency groups and board.
• Recruit looked-after young people to participate in council work and panels.
• Design techniques to maximise participation in Children and Young People’s services.
• Provide supervision, coaching and mentoring for the apprentice.
• Develop and maintain online resources for young people in care and analyse surveys.
