Job summary

Torbay Council is recruiting an enthusiastic Participation Officer to ensure the voices of children, young people, families and communities influence service development across Children’s Services.

You will design and facilitate consultation and co-production activities, reaching out to often underrepresented groups to remove barriers and increase inclusion. The role emphasizes safeguarding and collaborative partnership work.

Qualifications

• Experience with children, young people and families in health, education or social care.
• Excellent communicator able to engage diverse groups.
• Ability to build relationships with partners and stakeholders.
• Understanding of participation, engagement and co-production.
• Experience supporting vulnerable children, young people and families.
• Ability to facilitate training, workshops and group activities.
• Well organised and able to work independently and in a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver participation, engagement and co-production activities.
• Facilitate events, group sessions, consultations and workshops.
• Build trusted relationships with children, young people, families and communities.
• Support children, young people and families to share their experiences and influence change.
• Work with service managers and leaders to gather feedback that informs service improvement.
• Engage with vulnerable, underrepresented and seldom-heard groups.
• Prepare reports, maintain records and contribute to service improvement activity.
• Develop strong partnerships with community groups, schools and partner organisations.
• Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people at all times.
