Job summary

The Oratory School in Reading seeks an enthusiastic Lead Teacher of Chemistry to deliver high-quality lessons from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 and to lead, motivate and develop colleagues.

You will shape the curriculum, monitor performance, advise on subject choices, and represent the department at school events. The role embraces ICT integration, teamwork with colleagues, and participation in co-curricular activities.

Qualifications

• Passionate subject specialist with a proven track record of achieving excellent student outcomes.
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to develop colleagues.
• Experience teaching Chemistry across KS3–KS5.

Responsibilities

• Organise curriculum development and schemes of work for the Chemistry department.
• Advise students and their parents on academic matters, including subject choices and progression.
• Monitor exam performance and support weaker candidates.
• Represent the department at key school events and contribute to staff development.
• Ensure ICT integration within departmental schemes of work and participate in school initiatives.
