Job summary

The Oratory School invites applications for a Lead Teacher of Chemistry to join our dedicated Science Faculty. You will deliver high-quality Chemistry teaching across KS3–KS5, lead curriculum development, and support colleagues in a vibrant, boarding school community.

You will foster academic excellence, build strong pupil rapport, and represent the department at Parents’ Evenings, Open Mornings and other school-wide events, contributing to recruitment and progression efforts.

Qualifications

• Passionate chemistry specialist with proven track record of high student outcomes.
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop colleagues.
• Experience delivering engaging chemistry lessons from KS3 to KS5.
• Strong leadership with commitment to curriculum development and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Chemistry department, developing schemes of work and resources.
• Monitor student progress and provide guidance to pupils and parents on coursework and university choices.
• Support appraisal and development of colleagues; oversee assessment in Chemistry.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives and represent the department at key events.
