Job summary

Wadworth & Co Ltd is seeking an experienced Head Chef for The Farmhouse Inn, a beautifully refurbished 17th-century country pub. You will lead a kitchen team, deliver high-quality food, manage costs and maintain strict hygiene standards while creating a positive, high-performing culture.

You'll work closely with the General Manager to ensure memorable dining experiences for every guest, developing people and driving continuous improvement across the kitchen operation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Head Chef, Senior Sous Chef or in a similar kitchen leadership role is essential.
• Strong culinary skills and a commercial mindset.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation and performance of the kitchen.
• Lead, develop and inspire your kitchen team to deliver exceptional food and service standards.
• Ensure dishes are prepared, cooked and presented to specification.
• Manage labour, stock, wastage and food margins to maximise profitability.
• Recruit, train and develop chefs and kitchen team members.
• Maintain highest standards of food hygiene, safety and compliance.
• Plan kitchen rotas and manage staffing levels to meet business needs.
• Monitor food quality and customer feedback to drive improvement.
• Collaborate with General Manager and management to achieve business objectives.
• Create a positive culture of teamwork and excellence.
