Job summary

Compass Group UK&I – ESS Defence, Government and Energy Services is recruiting an ambitious Chef to deliver high-quality meals for Defence on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week) in Chepstow.

You will prepare and serve meals, oversee menu changes, monitor hygiene, support new menu concepts, and maintain a positive Defence brand image while supervising a kitchen team. We offer career progression and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Holding City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent is required.
• Food Hygiene certificate.
• Experience supervising a kitchen team.
• Experience in a similar Chef role.

Responsibilities

• Preparing delicious, high-quality food that delights our clients and customers.
• Overseeing and implementing menu changes.
• Identifying opportunities to improve our food services.
• Listening to customer feedback to continuously improve our food services.
• Supporting with the creation of new menus and creative food concepts.
• Representing Defence and maintaining a positive brand image.
• Monitoring inventories to keep our kitchens well-stocked.
• Overseeing kitchen cleaning responsibilities to maintain hygiene standards.
• Complying with Food Handling, Hygiene and Health and Safety regulations.
