Job summary

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Advanced Biomedical Scientist to lead a key section within Cellular Pathology. The role combines operational leadership, service development, and delivery of high-quality diagnostic work for a large regional network.

You will oversee and develop staff, drive quality improvements, and support the adoption of new technologies while maintaining compliance with UKAS ISO 15189 and HTA standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Cellular Pathology.
• Leadership and staff supervision experience.
• HCPC registration and relevant Biomedical Science degrees.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist scientific knowledge and leadership within Cellular Pathology.
• Lead and supervise staff to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Support service development, workforce planning, and implementation of new technologies.
• Ensure quality management and regulatory compliance (UKAS ISO15189, HTA) within the section.
• Coordinate training and technical support for staff.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and resilience across the Pathology Network.
