Job summary

Costain is seeking a CE&I Responsible Engineer to lead the CE&I design and engineering for the Sellafield IDP programme, delivering on time, to budget and to a safe, technically compliant standard. You will manage CE&I designers, including Costain teams and external consultants, ensuring designs are constructible, auditable and aligned with the Design Management Plan.

The role requires embedding carbon minimisation, Production Thinking/MMC, and rigorous reporting of progress and risks, while

Qualifications

• Essential: Be an authority in CE&I design.
• Essential: Experience of utility infrastructure design.
• Essential: Experience of technical management capable of reviewing CE&I design deliverables.
• Essential: Experience in implementing and delivering strategic objectives and dealing with change.
• Essential: Extensive knowledge of UK legislation and standards.
• Essential: Awareness of risk identification, quantification, management and HSE requirements.
• Desirable: EDMS and design workflow setup/operation.
• Desirable: Leading engineering-related aspects like information management, quality or assurance.

Responsibilities

• Establish collaborative relationships with client, Costain and external partner design teams, project staff and supply chain.
• Build strong interpersonal connections within the wider Costain CE&I Engineering functions.
• Be a visible leader and develop a programme-led design delivery culture across the Programme.
• Embed carbon minimisation into our solutions.
• Embed Production Thinking / MMC into our design solutions.
• Ensure reporting on design progress and technical risks regularly.
• Ensure designs are constructable, follow safe-by-design principles and support sustainability goals with carbon metrics.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, legislation and standards.
• Set out CE&I design and engineering needs for the Programme and ensure wide-team understanding.
