Job summary

Platform Housing Group is seeking a Lead Engineer – Carpentry to join Platform Property Care in Lincolnshire. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality carpentry repairs while mentoring colleagues and promoting best practice across teams.

You'll be the subject matter expert for carpentry, spending most of your time hands-on and a portion coaching apprentices, assessing competence, and driving service improvements in our mobile team covering Grimsby, Louth, Skegness and Boston.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds Level 2 in Carpentry or equivalent
• Additional Trade qualifications desired
• Significant carpentry experience in building trades
• Experience working in occupied domestic properties
• Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements
• Ability to record job information using mobile devices
• Good IT and digital skills
• Ability to coach, support and develop colleagues
• Full valid driving licence required
• DBS check required for work in customers' homes
• Mobile role covering Grimsby, Louth, Skegness and Boston with ~1 hour travel where possible

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of carpentry repairs and maintenance work in homes and communal areas
• Manage jobs from inspection through to completion with excellent customer service
• Support colleagues through coaching and mentoring
• Assess and sign off colleagues against multi-skill framework and support apprentices
• Promote consistent trade standards and best practice
• Work with Learning & Development teams to support training
• Conduct trade audits and quality assessments for compliance
• Act as a technical expert and escalation point for carpentry queries
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and help shape ways of working
