Job summary

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Mental Health Practitioner to join the CAMHS Urgent Care Team. The role focuses on assessing and intervening for young people with acute mental health needs, including risk assessment and safety planning.

The post involves working across the hours of 08:00–23:00 with plans for 24-hour on-call cover, and collaboration with Paediatrics, ED, and Children’s Social Care.

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in child & adolescent mental health (e.g. OT, RMN, SW) required.
• Registration with an appropriate regulatory body.
• Post-basic CAMHS training completed.
• Graduate level qualification in training/supervision of trainees/students.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health and risk assessments for under-18s in urgent care.
• Offer brief interventions and risk formulation for presenting cases.
• Support service development and cross-agency collaboration.
• Work within CAMHS Urgent Care Team with potential 24-hour on-call expansion.
