Job summary

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an 18-month fixed-term CAMHS Duty Practitioner to provide urgent assessment and intervention for children and young people. The role involves multidisciplinary collaboration and risk management within Core CAMHS.

The post requires an NHS-appropriate professional qualification in mental health and active professional registration. Visa sponsorship is not available, with existing NHS staff offered secondment only.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification or working towards a therapy qualification in mental health.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Registration with a professional body where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide duty cover for urgent assessment or intervention for children and young people.
• Undertake mental health and risk assessments in clinics, schools, homes and acute settings.
• Develop risk management and treatment plans with young people and families.
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions where appropriate.
• Provide consultation and support to families and partner agencies.
• Work with health, education, social care and voluntary sector colleagues.
• Support safeguarding processes and promote wellbeing of children and young people.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service improvement.
• Supervise and mentor colleagues and students.
