Job summary

Ground Control Geotechnical Solutions (GCGS) is seeking an experienced CP Lead Drilling Operative to lead safe, efficient drilling operations on site across Leeds, London, and national travel. The role requires leading drilling teams, ensuring sampling and data accuracy, and maintaining equipment.

You will oversee open-hole, core, and rock coring works, while ensuring HSE compliance and high-quality delivery on infrastructure projects. A valid UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven CP drilling and ground investigations experience.
• Strong knowledge of drilling techniques and geotechnical sampling.
• Experience supervising site teams.
• Good understanding of HSE and site safety requirements.
• Experience on infrastructure/construction projects.
• Valid UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain rotary drilling rigs for ground investigations.
• Lead and supervise on-site drilling teams.
• Prepare sites and carry out open-hole, core, and rock coring works.
• Ensure accurate sampling, logging and data recording.
• Maintain equipment and report maintenance issues.
• Act as on-site representative, providing progress updates to management.
