Role Title: Lead Business Analyst
Business Unit: UKI Finance
Reports to: UKI Head of Reporting & Analytics
Location: Newcastle, Belfast

JOB OVERVIEW

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the UKI Finance team for a Lead Business Analyst. The primary focus will be to support the UK working in the centre on activities across all of our Service Lines. The role will work with Senior Leadership.

The individual will provide high-quality financial and management information, often to tight deadlines. Develop new reports and analyses in collaboration with stakeholders, and systematise existing assets. Working with Data Analysts, oversee project work, identify bottlenecks, and find creative solutions. Upskill the team to become future Business Analysts. Present information and analysis to end-users, highlighting variances and recommended actions.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of financial analysis, including processing and verification. They must partner with the wider finance team, understand issues, and expand their knowledge. Problem-solving skills and adaptability to change are essential.

This role operates in a dynamic environment with ongoing changes to processes and systems as part of a Global Finance Transformation Programme. Flexibility and resilience are key qualities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Collaborate with the Head of R&A to set priorities and actions.
  2. Maintain relationships within the Finance team to understand infrastructure changes and their impact on reporting and analytics.
  3. Manage projects across Finance and Service Lines, ensuring data consistency.
  4. Lead weekly team meetings and foster collaboration.
  5. Organise and manage Data Analysts, balancing workloads and deadlines.
  6. Oversee the GDS Team to ensure high standards in reporting.
  7. Support training and development of team members.
  8. Identify opportunities to leverage new tools for efficiency.
  9. Deliver ad-hoc management information under tight deadlines.
  10. Lead by example and act as a role model.
  11. Support new initiatives, systems, and processes rollout.
  12. Promote the UKI R&A Team within the business.
  13. Engage in ongoing professional development.
  14. Develop and maintain reports and documentation of key processes.
  15. Ensure data quality and perform checks across platforms.
  16. Plan and execute User Acceptance Testing, including resource identification and progress assessment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong background in financial analysis, preferably within Professional Services, with project management experience as a Data or Financial Analyst.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work across teams and levels.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
  • Client-focused with a good understanding of service concepts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Experience in managing, motivating, and training teams.
  • Technical skills: proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word; able to learn firm’s systems and data mining tools.
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and T-SQL querying.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, HTML, and VBA.
  • Understanding of relational database architecture and querying.
  • Proficiency in visualization tools like PowerBI.

DESIRABLE

  • Familiarity with Alteryx.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps or GitHub.
  • Knowledge of Python Machine Learning and Forecasting.
