Role Title: Lead Business Analyst
Business Unit: UKI Finance
Reports to: UKI Head of Reporting & Analytics
Location: Newcastle, Belfast

JOB OVERVIEW
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the UKI Finance team for a Lead Business Analyst. The primary focus will be to support the UK working in the centre on activities across all of our Service Lines. The role will work with Senior Leadership.

The role will require the individual to provide high quality financial and management information, often to short deadlines. Develop new reports and analysis for in collaboration with stakeholders and systematise existing assets. Working with a team of Data Analysts with oversight of project work they will need to help identify bottlenecks and finding creative solutions. Upskilling a team of Data Analysts and taking them on a journey to become Business Analysts of the future. A key part of the role will be presenting this information and analysis to the end user, highlighting variances and actions accordingly.

Candidates will need to demonstrate a strong understanding financial analysis work including significant processing and checking. They will need to partner with the wider finance team, understanding issues and growing knowledge. An ability to problem solve, overcoming constraint is key to success.

This role is in a fast changing evolving environment with a number of changes taking place to the team’s processes and systems as the firm undertakes a Global Finance Transformation Programme. Therefore the ideal candidate will need to be flexible and have the ability to deal with change on an on-going basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Head of R&A to agree priorities and actions.
  • Maintain relationships within the wider Finance team to understand infrastructure changes and the impact it will have on existing reporting and analytics
  • Manage projects, working with other Finance areas and Service lines, ensuring alignment and consistency of data is maintained across the business
  • Lead weekly team meetings and encourage team collaboration
  • Organise and manage team of Data Analysts, ensuring workloads are balanced and deadlines are met
  • Oversight of GDS Team to ensure reporting is delivered to a high standard and consistently
  • Assist in training and upskilling of the team finding a balance between business and technical knowledge
  • Looks for opportunities to leverage new tools to realise efficiency gains
  • Deliver Ad-Hoc Management Information to short deadlines as required
  • Act as a role model and lead by example
  • Support the roll out of new initiatives, systems and processes
  • Be proactive in raising the profile of the UKI R&A Team in the business
  • Be proactive in continuing own professional development
  • Manages and executes the development of reports
  • Creates and maintains documentation of key processes
  • Performs checks to ensure data quality and accuracy is consistent on all platforms
  • Testing: ensure User Acceptance Testing is fully planned and executed
  • Assist in identifying testing resources, assigns test cases and assess progress

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong background in financial analysis work, preferably within Professional Services with experience as a Data or Financial Analyst managing projects
  • Collaborative, with the ability to work with other Finance areas and Service Lines, interacting with staff at all levels
  • Able to demonstrate initiative in approach to problem solving
  • Excellent organisational skills with excellent attention to detail, as well as commitment to quality and efficiency
  • Client focused with a strong understanding of service concepts
  • Excellent communication and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to change and flexible approach
  • Demonstrate experience in managing, motivating and training a team
    Technical skills
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word) with the ability to learn the firm’s systems and other data mining tools
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and querying using T-SQL
  • Understanding of relational database architecture and querying
  • Proficiency in visualisation tools such as PowerBI


DESIRABLE

  • Familiar with Alteryx
  • Knowledge of Azure Dev Ops or GitHub
  • Knowledge of Python Machine Learning and Forecasting
