UKI Finance Job Description

Role Title: Lead Business Analyst
Business Unit: UKI Finance
Reports to: UKI Head of Reporting & Analytics
Location: Newcastle, Belfast

JOB OVERVIEW

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the UKI Finance team for a Lead Business Analyst. The primary focus will be to support the UK working in the centre on activities across all of our Service Lines. The role will work with Senior Leadership.

The role requires providing high-quality financial and management information, often to short deadlines. Develop new reports and analyses in collaboration with stakeholders and systematise existing assets. Work with a team of Data Analysts, overseeing project work, identifying bottlenecks, and finding creative solutions. Upskill a team of Data Analysts to become future Business Analysts. Present information and analysis to end users, highlighting variances and actions accordingly.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of financial analysis, including significant processing and checking. They should partner with the wider finance team, understanding issues and expanding their knowledge. Problem-solving skills and the ability to overcome constraints are key to success.

This role operates in a fast-changing environment with ongoing changes to processes and systems as part of a Global Finance Transformation Programme. Flexibility and adaptability are essential qualities for the ideal candidate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work with the Head of R&A to agree priorities and actions.
  2. Maintain relationships within the wider Finance team to understand infrastructure changes and their impact on reporting and analytics.
  3. Manage projects, ensuring alignment and data consistency across the business.
  4. Lead weekly team meetings and foster collaboration.
  5. Organise and manage the Data Analysts team, balancing workloads and meeting deadlines.
  6. Oversee the GDS Team to ensure high standards in reporting delivery.
  7. Assist in training and upskilling the team, balancing business and technical knowledge.
  8. Identify opportunities to leverage new tools for efficiency gains.
  9. Deliver ad-hoc management information on short deadlines.
  10. Act as a role model and lead by example.
  11. Support the rollout of new initiatives, systems, and processes.
  12. Proactively raise the profile of the UKI R&A Team within the business.
  13. Continue personal professional development.
  14. Manage and execute report development.
  15. Create and maintain documentation of key processes.
  16. Perform data quality and accuracy checks across platforms.
  17. Plan and execute User Acceptance Testing, including resource identification and progress assessment.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Strong background in financial analysis, preferably within Professional Services, with experience as a Data or Financial Analyst managing projects.
  2. Collaborative approach, able to work across Finance areas and Service Lines, engaging staff at all levels.
  3. Initiative-driven problem-solving skills.
  4. Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail, committed to quality and efficiency.
  5. Client-focused with a solid understanding of service concepts.
  6. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  7. Flexible and adaptable to change.
  8. Experience in managing, motivating, and training teams.
  9. Technical skills: proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word; familiar with MS SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), T-SQL, Python, Javascript, HTML, VBA; understanding of relational databases; proficient in PowerBI visualization tools.

Additionally, desirable skills include familiarity with Alteryx, knowledge of Azure DevOps or GitHub, and experience with Python Machine Learning and Forecasting.
