Job summary

Railpen Limited is seeking a Business Analyst Lead in London or Darlington, with hybrid working arrangements. You will own and develop the Business Analysis capability across Change & Transformation (C&T), championing the profession and its value, while guiding and coaching analysts to deliver high-quality outputs.

You’ll line-manage analysts, set professional standards, and collaborate with Portfolio Managers, Project Managers, Business Architecture and PMO to enable successful change delivery.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading Business Analysis activity within complex change or transformation environments.
• Proven people leadership experience, with ability to inspire, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong coaching and mentoring capability across different development stages.
• Strong understanding of BA disciplines including requirements management, process analysis, stakeholder engagement, and benefits-focused change.
• Experience establishing and improving BA standards, methodologies and ways of working.
• Experience building professional communities that promote consistency and knowledge sharing.
• The ability to provide guidance and constructive challenge on complex analysis activities.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
• Experience across matrix structures for resource deployment and capability development.
• The ability to translate complex challenges into clear outcomes and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Line-managing and developing Business Analysts, supporting performance, wellbeing and career progression.
• Owning and improving the BA capability, including standards, methodologies and development pathways.
• Building and leading a thriving BA community that promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborating with Portfolio Managers, Project Managers, Business Architecture and PMO to support deployment and development of BA resources.
• Providing people-leadership input into resourcing decisions and identifying capability gaps.
• Coaching BAs through complex analysis challenges and providing constructive challenge to improve outputs.
• Driving continuous improvement in BA practice including requirements management and stakeholder engagement.
• Building relationships with PMO leads to ensure BA standards support wider C&T delivery.
