Job summary

Thiess is seeking a Boilermaker Leading Hand to lead and hands-on across structural repairs at the Iron Bridge Mine on a 14/7 FIFO roster in the Pilbara region. You will coordinate daily work, monitor progress, and mentor the boilermaker team while upholding strict safety and quality standards.

You will work with the Maintenance Supervisor to prioritise activities, allocate labour and resources, and ensure clear shift-change handovers.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate in engineering fabrication or equivalent.
• Previous Leading Hand experience in a maintenance/workshop/breakdown environment.
• Previous open cut mining experience with heavy earthmoving fleet.
• Strong leadership, communication and prioritisation skills; safety-focused.
• Willing to work a 14/7 roster with 12-hour shifts (days/nights).
• HR licence and high-risk licences desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear task updates and handovers to the Maintenance Supervisor at shift change.
• Prioritise boilermaker activities and allocate labour/resources with Maintenance Supervisor.
• Coordinate daily labour assignments and communicate priorities and status at pre-start.
• Monitor progress and provide timely updates for safe, efficient task completion.
• Lead, mentor and support boilermakers to build capability and maintain productivity.
• Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, workmanship, tooling and equipment care.
