Lonza in Cambridge, United Kingdom, is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead biopharmaceutical process development efforts. You will guide projects, optimize upstream and downstream processes, and mentor junior staff in a fast-paced R&D environment.

You will design experiments, analyze complex data, and translate market intelligence into growth strategies while collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams. Strong leadership and deep biopharma experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field with 5+ years of biopharma industry experience (or Master's with 10+ years).
• Experience with vector and/or host cell engineering to integrate payloads and/or knockout gene function in mammalian cells.
• Proven track record leading scientific projects and delivering results in biopharma process development.

Responsabilités

• Lead strategic planning and growth strategies across clinical and commercial phases.
• Manage process development, optimization, and characterization of biologics (upstream and downstream).
• Design experiments, analyze data, interpret results to drive process understanding and improvement.
