INFUSED SOLUTIONS LIMITED is seeking a Lead Engineer to own the backend direction in a UK-based, on-site role in Kent. You will lead a small team, champion TypeScript/Node.js best practices and build scalable, secure systems while mentoring engineers and coordinating with Product, Delivery, Commercial and Data teams.

You will drive architectural decisions, manage technical debt, and explore AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and delivery, with a salary of £95,000 per year and

Qualifications

• Substantial commercial experience developing backend systems with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience leading and line managing software engineers.
• Mentoring and coaching engineers in career development.
• Owns technical direction within a business domain.
• Strong understanding of scalable, secure software architecture.
• Experience with APIs, integrations and third-party systems.
• Pragmatic in technical decision-making balancing innovation and delivery.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
• Proven track record of improving engineering practices and platform performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and line manage a small team of software engineers, supporting their development and performance.
• Define and champion best practices for TypeScript and Node.js backend development.
• Set technical direction for the team and domain with pragmatic architecture decisions.
• Build and maintain scalable, secure backend systems.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, feedback and technical guidance.
• Develop backend capability and broaden engineers' technical skills.
• Own technical decisions within the domain balancing innovation and delivery.
• Collaborate with Product, Delivery, Commercial and Data teams and external partners.
• Champion AI-assisted development tools and automation to improve productivity and code quality.
• Demonstrate work to stakeholders and manage technical debt strategically.
