Job summary

Airbus Helicopters’ Oxford site is seeking a Chief Avionic Design Engineer to lead the avionics and electrical design team for helicopter customisations from concept to manufacture. You will own technical quality, guide a small team, and ensure compliance with customer, regulatory and Certification requirements.

You will act as design signatory and Compliance Verification Engineer, liaise with stakeholders, drive design reviews, and develop procedures to meet evolving requirements.

Qualifications

• Sound understanding of aircraft system and software safety analysis process.
• Proficient with CATIA V5, Autodesk AutoCAD and PLM systems (Enovia SmarTeam, ARAS).
• Understanding of national and international regulatory standards (CAA Part 21, CS27/CS29).
• Ability to plan and schedule design activities across multiple work packages.

Responsibilities

• Lead avionics & electrical engineering from quote/concept through design, integration and test per Airbus procedures.
• Own the avionic/electrical contribution to project timelines, estimates and quotes.
• Coach, mentor and develop less experienced design engineers (apprentices, graduates).
• Act as design signatory and Compliance Verification Engineer.
• Organise and participate in Design Reviews throughout the NPI process and ensure module integration.
