Job summary

Waterman Group is seeking an Associate Structural Engineer in Leeds to lead the design and delivery of a variety of building projects. You will mentor junior staff, manage client relationships, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality structural solutions.

You will oversee concept through to construction, ensuring adherence to standards and timelines while promoting sustainable design. Hybrid working arrangements and strong development support are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer status with IStructE or ICE, or close to Chartership.
• Significant experience in a structural engineering consultancy.
• Strong experience delivering building structures projects across multiple sectors.
• Excellent technical knowledge of structural design and analysis; materials include steel, concrete, masonry, timber.
• Proven experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes and CDM requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; client-facing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and delivery of a range of building projects.
• Manage projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.
• Oversee programmes, resources and deliverables to ensure timely, high-quality results.
• Provide technical leadership and review calculations, drawings, specifications and reports.
• Collaborate with architects, clients, contractors and other consultants for coordinated solutions.
• Lead client and design team meetings and represent Waterman Group professionally.
• Mentor Graduate, Engineer and Senior Engineer colleagues.
