Job summary

Cotswold Archaeology is seeking a Geophysics Specialist to support a diverse portfolio of archaeological investigations across the UK and Europe. You will mentor teams, provide technical advice, and help deliver high-quality geophysical data and reporting.

The role blends office and fieldwork, requiring independent work, strong communication, and a proactive approach to geophysical survey within archaeological investigations.

Qualifications

• Degree in geophysics, archaeology or related Earth science or equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of UK archaeology and interpretation of geophysical data.
• Experience using ArcGIS, Terrasurveyor64 and GPR-Slice.
• Ability to write and review risk assessments, method statements and schemes of investigation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise archaeological geophysical projects to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.
• Contribute to design, methodology and tendering for geophysical investigations.
• Organise project setup, logistics and startup documentation.
• Liaise with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Acquire high-quality data with multiple geophysical techniques.
• Oversee fieldwork from on-site to post-excavation stages.
• Train and supervise staff in fieldwork, data processing and reporting.
• Interpret geophysical data and prepare client reports and publications.
