Job summary

Cotswold Archaeology is seeking a qualified geophysicist with a strong archaeological background to supervise and deliver geophysical investigations. You will support project setup, data acquisition, interpretation, and reporting across UK and Europe, mentoring staff and liaising with clients.

The role requires a degree in geophysics or archaeology, experience with ArcGIS/Terrasurveyor64/GPR-Slice, and a valid manual driving licence.

Qualifications

Degree in geophysics, archaeology or related Earth science subject or equivalent experience.
Experience with UK archaeology and geophysical data interpretation.
Clear understanding of geophysical fieldwork best practice.
Familiarity with standard geophysical survey techniques and equipment.
Experience with ArcGIS, Terrasurveyor64, GPR-Slice.

Responsibilities

Supervise archaeological geophysical projects to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Contribute to design, methodology and tendering activities for investigations.
Set up projects, including logistics and startup documents.
Liaise with contractors and stakeholders to ensure project success.
Acquire high-quality data using various geophysical methods.
On-site supervision from fieldwork through post-excavation.
Train and supervise staff to meet professional standards.
Interpret geophysical data in line with project aims and standards.
Prepare client reports and publications.
Keep up-to-date with technology and guidance.
