Job summary

Adecco Portugal is seeking an experienced Lead Application Architect for an on-site role in Wembley. You will own application-level architecture and drive engineering excellence across cloud-native platforms to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

You will lead Java/Spring Boot development, microservices, ADRs, and CI/CD, mentor teams, and embed AI-powered tooling and automated testing in delivery pipelines. Experience migrating legacy apps to Azure is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Significant experience designing and delivering enterprise applications.
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot development.
• Proven experience designing microservices-based architectures.
• Experience creating component-level designs, Low-Level Designs (LLDs), and ADRs.
• Knowledge of cloud-native development principles and containerisation.
• Experience with Azure environments and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with CI/CD and modern pipelines.
• Commitment to automated testing and software quality.
• Hands-on with AI-powered development tools and coding assistants.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Producing component-level and code-level designs and detailed LLD documentation.
• Translating high-level architectural designs into implementation plans for development teams.
• Creating and maintaining ADRs and facilitating design reviews.
• Defining and embedding engineering standards, coding principles, and security best practices.
• Driving adoption of AI-assisted development tools across the SDLC.
• Establishing governance processes to ensure architectural consistency and quality.
• Supporting migration and modernisation of legacy apps to cloud-native environments.
• Developing reusable reference architectures and engineering patterns.
• Mentoring developers and fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Working with QA to embed automated testing standards into delivery pipelines.
