Job summary

Adecco is seeking a Lead Modernization Engineer for Java/Node.js in Wembley, on-site five days a week. You will define standards, mentor developers, and drive cloud-native modernization initiatives across Java and Node.js services.

You'll own API design, security-first practices, and the CI/CD pipeline, with hands-on work on Azure services, containerisation, and logging. This is a senior role requiring architectural collaboration and strong coding leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong Java development with Spring Boot and microservices ownership.
• Experience consuming Azure-native services, including Key Vault, Storage API and Service Bus.
• CI/CD mindset; able to read/write Dockerfiles and GitHub Actions YAML workflows.
• Deep RESTful API expertise, OAuth2 flows, and SendGrid DMARC integration.

Responsibilities

• Define and enforce Java/Node.js coding standards with robust exception handling and secure-first development practices.
• Ensure cloud-native readiness and containerisation, including health checks and secret management via Azure Key Vault.
• Provide mentorship to junior/mid developers, conduct code reviews, and promote engineering excellence.
• Translate High-Level Designs into production plans with architectural alignment.
• Champion automated testing: unit, integration, and contract tests to ensure stable deployments.
