Job summary

J.P. Morgan’s Commercial & Investment Bank is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to advance AI-first technology solutions, public repositories, and external developer integrations.

You will own open source governance, ensure secure, high-quality production code, and drive enterprise practices for scalable software delivery. The role emphasizes leadership in software design, cloud-native practices, and collaboration with vendors and internal teams to uplift architectural standards and tooling

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s).
• Demonstrated experience maintaining public open-source repositories, including triaging external issues and contributions, managing releases, and maintaining quality and security.

Responsibilities

• Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine approaches.
• Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
• Maintains the public JPMorgan-payments GitHub organization with repo hygiene, licensing, CI, and release quality.
• Maintains and evolves flagship public repositories and agent skills for external developers.
• Drives adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
