Job summary

Leiston Primary School is seeking a proactive Lead Activities Worker to run our wraparound care before and after school. You will create a welcoming, safe environment and plan engaging activities across sports, arts and outdoor learning while supervising Activity Workers.

You will lead a small team, foster strong relationships with pupils and families, and ensure high standards of safeguarding and welfare in a busy, community-focused setting.

Grade 3, Scale Points 7 to 10
Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 9.00am and 3.00pm to 6.00pm
Term Time Only
Fixed Term until 31 August 2027

About the Role

As our Lead Activities Worker, you will:

• Lead the day to day running of our breakfast and after school club provision.
• Create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where children feel happy and supported.
• Plan and deliver a wide range of engaging activities including sports, games, arts and crafts, outdoor learning and creative opportunities.
• Lead, support and supervise Activity Workers within the provision.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, families and staff.
• Ensure high standards of safeguarding, health and safety and children's welfare are maintained at all times.
• Help develop and improve the provision so that it continues to meet the needs of our children and families.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience of working with children in a school, childcare or similar setting.
• Is enthusiastic, reliable and nurturing in their approach.
• Has the confidence and skills to lead and motivate a small team.
• Is creative and enjoys planning exciting activities for children.
• Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
• Holds Paediatric First Aid and safeguarding qualifications, or is willing to undertake training.
• Shares our commitment to inclusion, respect and high expectations for every child.
• Level 3 trained or willing to undertake training to gain Level 3.

Additional Opportunity

For suitable candidates, this role may be undertaken alongside a Teaching Assistant position within the school. Where roles are combined, the total contracted hours will be capped at 37.5 hours per week.
