Job summary

Ashley Court Care Home in Wolverhampton is seeking a dedicated Laundry Assistant to provide a efficient laundry service for residents, washing, drying, ironing and returning clothing and linen while maintaining high hygiene standards and dignity.

You will follow infection control procedures, handle soiled laundry safely, use PPE, and keep equipment clean and safe, while respecting resident privacy and supporting housekeeping staff. Training and policy adherence are required.

Responsibilities

• Laundry Duties: Sort, wash, dry, iron, and fold residents' clothing and household linen.
• Ensure all clothing and linen are appropriately labelled.
• Return residents' clothing to the correct rooms promptly.
• Handle personal clothing with care and respect.
• Report damaged or unidentified clothing to management.
• Infection Prevention and Control: Follow infection control procedures at all times.
• Safely handle soiled and contaminated laundry.
• Use PPE appropriately.
• Ensure laundry equipment is cleaned and maintained in accordance with procedures.
• Health and Safety: Operate laundry equipment safely.
• Report faults or maintenance concerns immediately.
• Follow COSHH requirements when handling cleaning chemicals and detergents.
• Maintain a clean and safe laundry environment.
• Resident Care and Dignity: Respect residents' privacy, dignity, and personal belongings.
• Develop positive and professional relationships with residents and visitors.
• Be courteous and respectful at all times.
• General Responsibilities: Assist housekeeping staff when required.
• Maintain adequate stocks of laundry supplies.
• Follow all Ashley Court Care Home policies and procedures.
• Attend mandatory training and staff meetings as required.

The Laundry Assistant plays an important role in ensuring residents have access to clean clothing and linen, contributing to their comfort, wellbeing, and quality of life.
