Job summary

Vitacress Herbs in Chichester is seeking a Late Shift Maintenance Engineer to keep our packaging and processing equipment running safely and reliably. You’ll respond to breakdowns, perform planned maintenance, update records and support continuous improvement with a close-knit engineering team.

This role offers a 4-shift pattern (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, 4pm–2:30am), up to £49,000 including the late shift allowance, and funded training and development opportunities to grow your technical skills.

Qualifications

• FMCG or food manufacturing experience.
• NVQ Level 3 electrical qualification.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/schematics.
• Experience with PLC-controlled equipment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns and carry out planned maintenance to keep equipment performing at its best.
• Ensure machinery is safe, reliable and fit for purpose at all times.
• Support the Engineering Shift Leader in planning and prioritising maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate engineering records and update maintenance systems.
• Follow engineering procedures when carrying out repairs, replacements and equipment modifications.
• Investigate faults, identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
• Help improve plant reliability, reduce downtime and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Share technical knowledge and support colleagues across engineering and production teams.
• Contribute to the development of preventative maintenance programmes and site safety improvements.

Shift Pattern: 4 shifts per week on a Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, 4pm to 2.30am pattern

You can do this if you have…

• Previous experience working within an FMCG, food manufacturing or similar production environment.
• A recognised electrical engineering qualification to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment.
• A good understanding of engineering safety principles and safe working practices.
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• A logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
• The ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit engineering team.
