Job summary

Vitacress Herbs, Lagness Road, Runcton, Chichester, West Sussex, is seeking a Late Shift Maintenance Engineer to keep production lines running safely and efficiently.

You will respond to breakdowns, carry out planned maintenance, and support the Shift Leader while driving continuous improvement. The role offers a salary up to £49,000 with training and development opportunities. FMCG experience and an electrical NVQ3 are desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in FMCG/food manufacturing environments.
• Electrical engineering qualification to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings/schematics.

Responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns and perform planned maintenance to keep equipment running.
• Ensure machinery is safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
• Support the Engineering Shift Leader in planning maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and update systems.
• Follow procedures when carrying out repairs and equipment modifications.
• Investigate faults, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to site safety improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.

Role Opportunity: Late Shift Maintenance Engineer

Location: Vitacress Herbs, Lagness Road, Runcton, Chichester PO20 1LJ

Shift Pattern: 4 shifts per week on a Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, 4pm to 2.30am pattern

Salary: Up to £49,000 (including late shift allowance) plus eligibility for our incentive scheme, company and lots of training and development opportunities

In this role you'll...

• Respond to breakdowns and carry out planned maintenance to keep our equipment performing at its best.
• Ensure machinery is safe, reliable and fit for purpose at all times.
• Support the Engineering Shift Leader in planning and prioritising maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate engineering records and update maintenance systems.
• Follow engineering procedures when carrying out repairs, replacements and equipment modifications.
• Investigate faults, identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
• Help improve plant reliability, reduce downtime and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Share technical knowledge and support colleagues across engineering and production teams.
• Contribute to the development of preventative maintenance programmes and site safety improvements.

You can do this if you have...

• Previous experience working within an FMCG, food manufacturing or similar production environment.
• A recognised electrical engineering qualification to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment.
• A good understanding of engineering safety principles and safe working practices.
• The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• A logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
• The ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and develop.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit engineering team.
