Job summary

JM Selection Ltd. is partnering with an Bridgend-based engineering firm seeking an Assembly Technician to join the production team. You will assemble electrical and mechanical components, test and commission equipment, and complete documentation to support quality standards.

The role requires hands-on experience with electrical/electronic assemblies, interpretation of drawings, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm, Friday 8:30am-1:30pm with some flexibility.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience in a similar Production Technician, Electrical Assembly Technician, Electronics Technician or Engineering Technician role.
• Practical experience assembling electrical or electronic equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to assembly and testing.
• Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to perform repetitive technical tasks accurately.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to complete documentation and meet deadlines.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and the confidence to communicate technical issues clearly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a production engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical and mechanical components used in the manufacture of specialist laser equipment, following technical drawings, wiring schedules, electrical schematics and build documentation.
• Complete the full assembly of finished products, integrating individual components and pre-built sub-assemblies.
• Commission and test equipment in accordance with established test plans and technical specifications.
• Carry out quality inspections and complete all relevant production records and paperwork accurately.
• Identify, investigate and report assembly or component issues to production management, supporting engineering teams with corrective and preventative actions.
• Ensure faulty or non-conforming components are identified and handled in line with company procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment, following 5S housekeeping standards.
• Provide feedback on assembly instructions and build processes during the testing and validation of new product developments.
• Manage workload effectively to meet production deadlines while maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality.
