Job summary

Unify is seeking an experienced Large CNC Turner to join a busy precision machining environment, manufacturing small-batch, high-precision components for highly regulated industries.

The role requires setting and operating large CNC lathes with Mazak and/or Fanuc controls, interpreting drawings with GD&T, and maintaining quality and safety standards. You will contribute to efficient production and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years' experience machining large components.
• At least five years' experience operating CNC lathes with Mazak and/or Fanuc controls.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T.
• Right to live and work in the UK.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate CNC lathes, including reading, editing and optimising CNC programs.
• Follow procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent production.
• Interpret drawings and tolerances with GD&T.
• Manufacture precision components to customer specs and quality requirements.
• Maintain health, safety and housekeeping standards.
• Work independently and in a manufacturing team.

Job description

Large CNC Turner

Overview

We are looking for an experienced CNC Turner to join a busy precision machining environment manufacturing small batch, high-precision components for highly regulated industries. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience setting and operating large CNC lathes and working with Mazak and/or Fanuc control systems.

Hours: 39 hours per week

Rate: £18-22/hour DOE (Setting vs Operating vs Programming etc)

Core Shift

• Monday to Thursday: 6:45am to 3:30pm
• Friday: 7:00am to 1:00pm
• 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Key Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate CNC lathes, including reading, editing and optimising CNC programs.
• Follow manufacturing procedures, set-up sheets and work instructions to ensure consistent production.
• Interpret engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances with a strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Manufacture precision components to customer specifications and quality requirements.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality standards, engineering documentation and customer requirements.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and housekeeping at all times.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
• Carry out additional production duties as required to support the business.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Right to live and work in the UK.
• Minimum of three years' experience machining large components within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
• At least five years' experience operating CNC lathes with Mazak and/or Fanuc control systems.
• Experience working from engineering drawings, job cards and manufacturing work instructions.
• Broad knowledge of machining processes across a variety of engineering materials.
• Experience handling, protecting and machining precision manufactured components.
• Ability to program, set and operate a range of CNC machine tools.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safe working practices.

Desirable

• Knowledge of modern cutting tools and machining techniques.
• Experience programming Mazak and/or Fanuc controls.
• Experience using hydraulic and manual steadies for machining large components.
