Job summary

The CNC Turner position in Warminster, Wiltshire, is a hands-on role requiring programming, setting and operating CNC lathes with Fanuc controls to produce precision components. You will work on modern twin-spindle machinery and apply both online and offline programming techniques to meet exact customer specifications.

We value at least 3 years of CNC machining experience; aerospace exposure is welcome but not mandatory.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' CNC machining experience.
  • Proven ability to programme, set and operate CNC lathes.
  • Experience using Fanuc controls is highly desirable.
  • CAD/CAM programming experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing.
  • Experience machining a variety of engineering materials.
  • Ability to manufacture components to tight tolerances.
  • Experience creating new CNC programmes from engineering drawings.
  • Jig and fixture manufacturing experience desirable.
  • Good understanding of quality standards within a precision engineering environment.
  • Aerospace machining experience advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Reliable, self-motivated and capable of working independently.

Responsibilities

  • Programme, set and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision-engineered components.
  • Produce accurate, high-quality components to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Create new CNC programmes from customer drawings.
  • Plan production methods, selecting appropriate tooling, fixtures and machining strategies.
  • Carry out online and offline programming using Fanuc controls.
  • Make offsets and minor programme adjustments to maintain component quality and optimise production.
  • Programme and set machines to achieve efficient cycle times and maximise productivity.
  • Manufacture and modify jigs and fixtures where required.
  • Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Machine a variety of metals to tight tolerances.
  • Inspect and measure components throughout production to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • Work to production schedules and agreed deadlines.
  • Operate manual workshop machinery when required.
  • Adhere to AS9100 quality procedures and company manufacturing standards.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of the engineering team.

Location: Warminster, Wiltshire

Salary: Up to £42,000 - Dependent on Experience

We are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner to join a well-established precision engineering company based in Warminster. This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit team of approximately 15 employees, manufacturing high-precision components for a diverse range of industries.

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC lathes with Fanuc controls, producing high-quality precision-engineered components to exact customer specifications. The role offers the opportunity to work with modern twin-spindle, Y-axis machinery and utilise both online and offline programming techniques.

Experience within aerospace manufacturing would be advantageous but is not essential.

Hours of Work

Monday - Thursday: 07:30 - 16:45

Friday: 07:30 - 12:30

Overtime

  • Monday to Thursday overtime paid at Time & One Third (1.33x)
  • Friday afternoon and Saturday overtime paid at Time & One Half (1.5x)
