Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council in Stevenage is seeking an Assistant Landscape Officer to join the landscape planning team with hybrid working. The role focuses on influencing the landscape design and visual impact of proposed developments to support sustainable growth across Hertfordshire.

The position requires a degree in Landscape, architecture or urban design and entails advising on landscape design, placemaking and mitigation during planning processes.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate and/or Master’s degree in a Landscape, architectural or urban design related discipline.
• Ability to communicate well with a variety of audiences verbally and in writing.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality information and advice on Landscape Design and Visual Impact.
• Interpret and assess Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments, Arboricultural Impact Reports and Masterplans.
• Work with multiple planning authorities and a multi‑disciplinary LEADS team to support placemaking and sustainability.
