About The Team

We are looking for a recent graduate in landscape architecture with the vision and drive to shape a diverse portfolio of public spaces from concept design through to delivery and long-term management.

In this role, you will make a vital contribution to creating high-quality, sustainable landscapes that deliver lasting benefits for communities and play a key role in our commitment to accelerate nature recovery.

As part of our Land Management team, you will work alongside colleagues from a wide range of professional backgrounds, offering excellent opportunities to collaborate, learn and develop your career.

The Countryside and Rights of Way Service works in partnership with private landowners, local communities, local authorities, and government agencies to deliver projects that enhance the environment for both people and wildlife.

Our Land Management team has a broad portfolio of work encompassing town centre park regeneration, management of woodlands and nature reserves, chalk river restoration, large-scale tree and hedgerow planting, and the transformation of former railway lines into active travel routes.

You will be:

  • Developing plans and projects to improve public green spaces.
  • Securing external funding to support project delivery.
  • Managing projects through planning, procurement and implementation.
  • Leading engagement with residents, communities and stakeholders.
  • Managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

About you
  • A demonstrable track record in the delivery of environmental or landscape projects.
  • Strong communication and consensus building skills to establish support for ideas.
  • Works both independently and collaboratively with a range of colleagues, professionals, partners and members of the public.
  • Enjoys and has examples of proactively managing a range of projects from start to finish, often with changing priorities, where a flexible, problem-solving approach ensures business priorities are achieved.
  • Follows a structured and well-organised approach to work planning and time management.
  • Competently manages the use of allocated resources.
  • Experience of using AutoCAD.
  • You will have a full, current driving licence, and you will be expected to work in rural locations with difficult terrain.

In this role you will be joining a talented and experienced team and will be supported in your further training and development.

You will have an opportunity to progress your career, whilst positively contributing to Hertfordshire’s green spaces. You will be involved in a broad range of projects that will make a significant difference to our environment and local communities.
