Job summary

HS2 Ltd is seeking a Land Assembly Assistant in Birmingham (Hybrid) to coordinate land acquisition activities, manage data and notices, and support the delivery of land entry for work packages. You will work with Area Teams, PSCs, and ILA to ensure accurate boundaries and timely approvals.

The role requires data management, GIS analysis, stakeholder coordination, and project management skills, with a salary base of £26,900–£31,600 and a 15% flexible benefits fund.

Role: Land Assembly AssistantLocation: Birmingham (Hybrid)Grade: G13Close Date: 14th October 2026Job Description:Salary Base salary £26,900 pa to c.£31,600pa depending on skills and experience. In practice, this means we are positive and inclusive about making adjustments, providing flexible working, encouraging our staff networks to flourish and providing personal and professional development opportunities.As a Land Assembly Assistant at HS2 you will have a key role in undertaking land assembly activities as directed to secure entry to land for each work package within the allocated contract area in accordance with the construction programme through the implementation of compulsory purchase powers.About the role:Accountabilities* Lead workshops with Area Teams, Enabling Works Contractors (EWC)/Main Works Civils Contractors (MWCC), Land Referencing Consultants (PSC), Acquisitions and Independent Land Advisor (ILA) to ensure final land acquisition boundary and land requirements are prepared and signed off;* Verify existence of undertakings and assurances in relation to advance notice of compulsory purchase and entry within the allocated contract Area;* Manage the day to day activities and deliveries from the PSCs with annual budget of c. £2m per Area;* Assure referencing data provided by PSCs to support acquisition by compulsory purchase powers, possession, handback or access for surveys;* Prepare possession and acquisition notices for approval by Land Assembly, Legal and by the ILA;* Approve notices for entry to land for survey purposes;* Manage daily progress trackers, escalating any deliverables which have been delayed to the contractors;* Lead collaborative working with PSC to improve efficiency of process’* Maintain a register of all notices prepared, served and returned, for the contract area* Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.About You:EssentialSkills• Data management skills, including land referencing data recording, analysis and assurance;• Ability to coordinate groups of stakeholders and agree requirements;• Ability to analyse and manipulate data within a Geographical Information System and digital mapping environment;• Project management skills, to ensure deliverables are provided within agreed time, cost and quality criteria.Experience• Experience of compiling and analysing data using Excel (or equivalent), GIS and database reporting tools;• Experience of operating within a project/programme environmentDesirableKnowledge* Knowledge of land referencing;* Understanding of land assembly activities and compulsory purchase;* Understanding of compulsory purchase powers;* Knowledge of Registration of title (Land Registry).Experience* Experience of land referencing and assembly;It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.As HS2 Ltd do not hold a sponsorship license from the Home Office, we are not able to provide sponsorship to any applicant.
