Job summary

Qualifications

• Formal engineering qualification or extensive demonstrable calibration experience.

Responsibilities

• Calibrate measuring instrumentation to National UKAS standards.

• Participate in interlaboratory measurement audits.

About the Role

You will conduct testing, troubleshooting, and repairs in the laboratory. Collaborate closely with quality and engineering teams to maintain calibration procedures and documentation. Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a high standard of safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Calibration of measuring instrumentation to National UKAS standards.
• Identify and develop productivity improvement opportunities and support operational efficiency projects. Maintain calibration instrumentation, equipment, and facilities to required standards.
• Conduct all duties in accordance with Company health and safety procedures, policies and a Safe System of Work.
• Maintain and produce accurate calibration records enabling the production of calibration certificates.
• Produce, review, develop and audit automated and manual Calibration Procedures in accordance with Company requirements and from clients and audit or recommendations.
• Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues on request.
• Maintenance of Calibration Certification and files.
• Participate in Trescal Interlaboratory measurement audits.
• Participate in external/internal audits as required by the Trescal Quality Manager within the customer/Trescal facility.
• Senior Engineers will train and mentor more junior employees.
• Occasionally you may be required to perform other tasks which are not included in the above description but are within the capabilities of the individual and where necessary training will be given.

Requirements

• Technician level - no formal engineering qualification is required as training will be provided.
• Engineer level - Formal qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or extensive demonstrable experience in and understanding calibration, both practical and theory is required. Familiarity with calibration standards and accreditation requirements, such as ISO/IEC 17025, is required.
• Strong understanding of Windows-based and laboratory automation software.
• Good communication skills are necessary to liaise effectively with internal departments and customers, both in writing and verbally. A commitment to quality assurance and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory. Awareness of environmental sustainability practices and a willingness to contribute to related initiatives is preferred.
