Job summary

Dovecote Park Ltd is seeking a Lairage Operative for our Skellingthorpe site. The role is permanent, with a fixed Monday to Friday shift from 5:45am to 14:15pm and a day rate ranging from £104.08 to £123.38 depending on experience.

Work involves scanning, wrapping products, and maintaining clean lairage areas. The ideal candidate will assist with animal welfare standards, liaise with QA, and perform duties such as heavy lifting and operating manual handling equipment.

Qualifications

• Maintain lairage cleanliness and bedding, ensure water levels are full.
• Check currency of date sheets and residency documentation.
• Liaise with QA and auditors as required.
• Ensure pen cards and animal welfare procedures are followed.

Day Rate:£104.08 to £123.38 per day depending upon experience
Contract:Permanent
Location:Skellingthorpe, LN6 5TX
Shift Available: 5:45am to 14:15pm fixed Monday to Friday

We are a family business established in Yorkshire in 1997 based in Darrington just outside of Skellinthorpe with a reputation for exceptional product, innovation, and industry-leading animal welfare standards. Our facilities combine traditional British butchery techniques with some of the best technological prowess in the food sector.

A committed team of over 800 staff oversee the whole process from procuring the best possible livestock from our carefully picked group of farms, through butchery, retail packaging, and despatch before it finally arrives on the supermarket shelf or as part of the restaurant dining experience.

About you:

• Keep the lairage in a clean condition to accept livestock, all drinking vessels must be full and not leaking and bedding and feed available .
• Check date sheets for currency.
• Check all passports for 30 months age limit before unloading animals, Also check for correct residency period at the end of the kill take all documentation to the administration office.
• Ensure that pen cards are available.
• Liaise with site OVS to ensure that animals are inspected prior to the kill and that all animals are then killed in accordance with Company policy and procedures, which relate directly to the Animal Welfare Policy.
• Keep all equipment in good working order by liaising with the Maintenance Manager and planning a preventative maintenance schedule.
• Liaise with QA in order to maintain quality assurance procedures.
• Provide information for and co-operate with auditors and inspectors.
