Job summary

Broadacres Housing Association is seeking a Labourer - Empty Homes to work across North Yorkshire on a permanent full-time basis (37 hours). You will tackle cleaning and clearance in properties post-repair, support with painting, gutter and garden tasks, and help ready homes for handover with a thorough, sparkling finish.

Experience in labouring or clearance labouring is valued, with emphasis on teamwork, safe working at height, driving a works vehicle, and the ability to manage multiple tasks

Responsibilities

• Clear waste and perform full cleaners in empty properties after repairs or refurbishment.
• Assist multi-skilled colleagues with tasks such as filling, painting, gutter cleaning and garden work.
• Move materials and support heavy lifting; install loft insulation when required.
• Prepare homes for handover with sparkle clean, polished fittings and clean windows for a welcoming finish.

Labourer - Empty Homes

Permanent & Full time (37 hours)

Company vehicle for business use and commuting.

What You'll Be Doing

A typical day might include working in an empty property that's just had repair or refurbishment work completed. There's often dust, debris, and leftover materials to deal with, so you'll roll up your sleeves and get stuck into a full builders clean clearing waste, putting a bit of elbow grease into those tough areas where there may be residue from previous works, and giving the whole property a thorough top-to-bottom clean.

You’ll also be working alongside multi-skilled colleagues to assist with work such as filling, painting patches, external works such as gutter cleaning and garden works. Some jobs will call for a bit more physical effort too, whether that’s shifting materials, removing bulky items left behind, supporting with heavy lift and installing loft installation.

A key part of the role is getting those homes ready for handover. This is where the sparkle clean comes in, adding those finishing touches that make all the difference. You’ll be polishing fittings, cleaning internal windows, and making sure every room looks fresh, clean, and welcoming. It’s about attention to detail and taking pride in leaving a home in the best possible condition.
