Job summary

Corehr is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the Children Growing Up in Liverpool programme. You will provide technical support for the collection, processing and storage of human samples for biobanking and future research, under the guidance of the Programme Manager.

The role includes assisting with the C-GULL sub-study Healthy Brains Healthy Futures and undertaking microbial DNA extraction from faecal and breast milk samples to study microbiome impacts on health outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum a BTEC Higher Level (or equivalent) in a relevant healthcare/biomedical science.
• Some experience of working in a research laboratory or clinical setting.
• Knowledge of the Human Tissue Act Regulations and handling of biological material.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to workload priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for collection, processing and storage of human samples for biobanking and future research.
• Manage sample processing and shipping for the C-GULL sub-study Healthy Brains Healthy Futures.
• Support extraction of microbial DNA from faecal and breast milk samples to study microbiome impacts on future health outcomes.
• Work flexibly depending on workload and priorities under supervision.
