Job summary

Talentmark is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Manchester to perform routine analytical testing in support of the food safety and quality teams. You will run calibrations, preventive maintenance, and simple repairs on analytical instrumentation, ensuring customer specs are up to date.

The role requires a scientific qualification or equivalent experience, with strong reading/writing skills and excellent communication. On-site work with Microsoft Office proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant scientific qualification or equivalent working experience.
• Laboratory experience would be an advantage.
• Ability to read, write and interpret documents including operating procedures.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine analytical and laboratory testing to support food safety and quality teams.
• Run calibration checks and preventive maintenance on analytical instrumentation; perform simple repairs.
• Interpret and document results into active databases and communicate findings to internal customers.
• Conduct routine inspections of raw materials, in-process and final products under supervision.
• Handle moderately complex clerical/technical issues and escalate complex ones as needed.

Salary:

£12.96 per hour PAYE

Laboratory Technician Role:

• Complete routine analytical and laboratory testing in support of the food safety quality and operational teams.
• Run calibration checks, preventive maintenance tasks, and simple repair to analytical instrumentation, maintaining customer specifications books up-to-date.
• Interpret and document results of tests into active databases and communicate results to internal customers as required.
• Conduct routine quantitative and qualitative inspections and laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process and final products independently, supporting more complex trials and experiments under intermediate supervision.
• Handle moderately complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under general supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Your Background:

• Hold a relevant Scientific qualification or equivalent working experience
• Any experience working in a Laboratory would be an advantage.
• Ability to read, write and interpret documents including operating procedures, etc.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
