Job summary

Eurofins is hiring for a full-time laboratory role in Grimsby. The position involves completing stages of food testing to required quality standards and assisting with day-to-day laboratory operations.

The role runs 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 14:00–22:00, and visa sponsorship cannot be offered. Responsibilities include registration, processing, media preparation, reading/confirmation tests, QC, and maintaining records in line with procedures and UK health and safety rules.

Qualifications

  • Degree in science and/or lab experience desirable but training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out registration of food samples in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
  • Process food samples in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
  • Prepare media in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
  • Read and confirm tests in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
  • Perform media QC, IQC, environmental monitoring per procedures.
  • Adhere to procedures and maintain records and quality data.
  • Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation and keep work area clean.
  • Work with the team to drive improvement in the laboratory.
  • Ensure knowledge of Laboratory Quality Manual for policy compliance.
  • Support best practice to meet UKAS accreditation requirements.
  • Provide high level internal and external customer care.
  • Read and comply with company rules and notices.
  • Take on any other reasonable tasks as delegated.

Job Description

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

The purpose of this role is to complete the relevant stage of food testing to the required quality standards and internal methods/procedures. Further, assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory.

This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 14:00 till 22:00.

  • To carry out registration of food samples in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
  • To carry out processing of food samples in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
  • To carry out media preparation in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
  • To carry out reading/confirmation tests in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
  • To carry out media QC, IQC, environmental monitoring in line with the quality standard and written methods/procedures.
  • Adhering to documented procedures for the relevant section of the laboratory, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner.
  • Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Manual in order to ensure compliance at all times with the policies, procedures and associated documents which are referred to in the manual.
  • To assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
  • Read and comply with company rules, procedures, agreements and any notices displayed by the Company.
  • Any other reasonable tasks as delegated by the line manager.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in science and experience in a laboratory would be desirable but not essential as full training is provided.
  • Good organisational and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of working well under pressure.
