Position Overview: Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for conducting testing and analysis of fluid samples (e.g., oil, coolant, fuel, and grease). The role includes uploading results, checking data quality, and assisting with sample preparation.

This is a 3-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.

Roster: 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday, rotating between morning (6am-2:30pm) and afternoon shifts (2pm-10:30pm).

Location: South Guildford, WA

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing and analysis of various fluid samples.
  • Upload results and verify data quality before interpretation.
  • Assist in sample preparation for analysis.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with testing procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to uphold quality standards and improve processes.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving laboratory efficiency.
Skills and Experience:
  • Certificate IV or higher in Laboratory Techniques.
  • Proficiency in MS Windows & Office; LabWare/LIMS experience is desirable.
  • Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced laboratory environment preferred.
  • Ability to perform manual handling and lifting.
  • Flexibility with rosters and occasional weekend work.
  • Familiarity with machinery fluid analysis instruments (e.g., viscometers, particle counters, FTIR, IC, ICP-OES) is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working independently and in a team.
  • Experience with instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and automation systems is advantageous.
