As a Laboratory Assistant within our Histology (animal tissue)team based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire you will play an integral part in achieving our mission by providing laboratory based technical and operational support to colleagues working on studies.

Whilst training you will learn a broad range of standard technical laboratory skills and techniques including how to work to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

Duties include routine procedures and duties associated with the day to day running of the laboratory areas which will include some lifting.

This will include taking delivery of samples from the Necropsy team, correct storage of samples, fixing of tissues to glass slides and stock control along with ordering of consumables. Cleaning and storage of equipment.

All training will be provided

You will need the following skills to be successful in the role:

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to accurately read, record, and communicate information

  • Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Able to work in a team

Education / Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths, English and Science
