Full Time Post - 37.5 Hours Per Week

The Cellular Pathology Department is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to support Biomedical Scientists and Consultant Histopathologists. The role involves processing samples such as body fluids and human tissue, and providing support across all sections of the department. The department is well-equipped, fully computerised, and offers experience in routine histology, diagnostic cytology, frozen sections, digital pathology, and immunohistochemistry.

Applicants should possess good organisational skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team. The work is varied, with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail. Full training will be provided.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Sort and identify specimens received in the laboratory.
2. Enter patient details and other data into the computer.
3. Perform general clerical duties such as filing, answering phones, and photocopying.
4. Receive, record, and prepare patient samples.
5. Perform miscellaneous duties under supervision according to protocols.
6. Attend mandatory training every two years.
7. Adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.
8. Load digital pathology scanners.
