Job summary

Avantor Services in Cambridge is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our on-site team. The role focuses on delivering scientific technical support to the R&D laboratories in compliance with Health and Safety and Good Laboratory Standards requirements.

You will handle stock management, equipment maintenance, sample handling, aseptic preparation, and glassware services while upholding safety protocols and contributing to efficient laboratory operations.

Qualifications

• Proven customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively.
• Good IT skills required (including Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook).
• Experience of working in a laboratory environment.
• Knowledge of SHE requirements in a laboratory environment.
• Flexible with working hours when required to deliver the service to our customers.

Responsibilities

• Stock management - daily consumable replenishment at the point of use, utilising site inventory system.
• Maintenance of lab consumable inventory
• Handling of cell and sample deliveries
• Routine decontamination of incubators, water baths, cell counter, class II cabinets, water purification units and other equipment relevant to site
• Calibration of pH meters and counterbalances
• Management of pipette inventory and organisation of calibration schedules
• Aseptic aliquoting of reagents used in tissue culture & basic media preparation
• Laboratory housekeeping – tidying stock rooms, cleaning sinks, waste management (biological, chemical & radioactive)
• Receipt and unpacking of parcel deliveries, including temperature sensitive
• Provide regular glassware and plastics collection, washing and, autoclaving/ sterilisation services (steam, dry or filtration) for the scientists to use within the laboratories.
